You still can somewhat closer than you might think. I know the money the engine guys (LRH,SHS) are charging are flat ridiculous, but a wise budget minded racer still can be competitive with a lot less. In comparison, we sold a race ready toyota in 2004 for $2000, a car that had just won 5 out of 7 at I-77, but all our engine work was done basically in house with stock parts. I'm in no way disputing the asking price or competiveness of the Brown car, just saying there are more ways to skin the same cat.
